Painting questions
How long does the paint smell last?
With low-VOC, water-based washable paint the smell is gone in 24-48 hours. We keep windows open while we work.
Do you paint homes with furniture in them?
Yes. Furniture is moved to the middle of the room and covered with drop cloths. We go room by room; it adds 1-2 days compared with an empty home.
Does every wall need a skim coat?
No. A smooth wall only needs paint. Skim coating is worth it on large walls that get a lot of light and on wavy surfaces; we note it room by room at the consultation.
How often does exterior paint need redoing?
A quality exterior paint lasts about 8-10 years on average. North-facing walls grow mildew sooner because they stay damp.
